FK Kauno Žalgiris has announced their latest signing ahead of the new A Lyga season: experienced Serbian forward Dejan Georgijevic.
The 31-year-old began his career in the youth ranks of FK Zemun and Partizan. In 2016, he made the move to the Serbian Super Liga by joining Voždovac, where he impressed by scoring 12 goals in 41 league appearances. His performance there earned him a transfer to Hungarian side Ferencváros in 2018 for a fee of around 200,000 Euros.
However, his time at Ferencváros was less fruitful, leading to several loan spells at clubs in Serbia and Kazakhstan. In 2021, after his contract with Ferencváros expired, he signed with Bosnian club Velež. Throughout his career, Georgijevic has also played in Slovenia, Tanzania, and, most recently, in Georgia with FC Telavi, where he scored eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.
At FK Kauno Žalgiris, Georgijevic will be donning the #77 shirt. The team is set to kick off the new A Lyga season tomorrow in an away match against DFK Dainava Alytus.
