First ever Latvian Super Cup in women’s football has been announced and will be contested between Riga FC Women and RFS Women on the 14th March 2025 at 19:00 at LNK Sporta Parks.
Latvian Football Federation announced the inaugural Women’s Super Cup, which will be played between last year’s league winners, Riga FC Women, and Latvian Cup winners – RFS Women. The match will be played on the 14th of March at 19:00 at LNK Sporta Parks on artificial pitch. Attendance will be free of charge.
Latvian women’s football has been growing at an accelerated pace over the past two years, with large clubs investing more into the women’s and girl’s game. The league, previously dominated by SFK Riga, Metta and Rigas Futbola Skola, has seen a surge in competitiveness since RFS took over SFK Riga and their men’s game arch-rivals, Riga FC, launched a team last year. Signing some of the first professional contracts and attracting multiple foreign players (as well as players from abroad but with Latvian heritage), Riga FC won the league in their debut season.
The men’s Super Cup restarted last year after a 13-year absence, with Riga FC men’s team becoming only the second club in the history of Latvian football to raise the Super Cup trophy, defeating RFS in a penalty shootout. This year’s Super Cup will see RFS and Riga FC face off once again, except that with the introduction of this competition into the women’s game, they will do so not once but twice during the month of March.
Broadcast will be available via futbols.tv platform.
