FS Jelgava has bolstered its defensive lineup by signing 24-year-old left-back Andriy Yuzvak from Czech 2nd division club FK Varnsdorf. The announcement comes on a special day for Yuzvak, as he celebrates his 24th birthday, marking a new chapter in his career with the Latvian club.

Born in Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine, in 2001, Yuzvak holds dual citizenship of Ukraine and the Czech Republic. His football journey began at the age of 11 when he joined the academy of Háje Jižní Město, a club located in the suburbs of Prague. After two seasons of honing his skills, he moved to Admira Prague’s youth system.

At 15, Yuzvak made a significant leap to join the ranks of Slovan Liberec, where he continued his development within their academy. He progressed to the reserve team, making his debut in the Czech 3rd division in 2019. During his three full seasons with Slovan Liberec B, he made 51 appearances and found the back of the net six times.

In 2023, Yuzvak transitioned to FK Varnsdorf, competing in the Czech 2nd division. During his stint, he featured in 16 matches and scored one goal.

Interestingly, Yuzvak’s signing continues a growing trend of Czech players joining FS Jelgava. He becomes the fourth Czech player to sign with the club, following in the footsteps of Adam Dvorak, Ondrej Ullman, and David Holoubek.

Adding to the intrigue, Yuzvak is represented by the same agency that previously brought Victor Osuagwu and Ede Oloko to FS Jelgava, indicating a trusted scouting network and strong connections with Eastern European football.

FS Jelgava will kick off their 2025 Virslīga campaign on March 6, facing FK Grobiņa away from home.
