On Sunday, Karl Hein and Valladolid suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in La Liga, losing heavily 0-4 at home against Sevilla.
The 22-year-old Estonian goalkeeper, currently on loan to Valladolid from Arsenal, made his 24th appearance in La Liga during this match.
The first goal of the game came early, in the 5th minute. Juanlu Sanchez received a cross deep inside the box and controlled it beautifully with a great first touch. He took a shot from a tight angle that hit a Valladolid defender attempting to block it, changing direction and going over goalkeeper Hein. It was a difficult situation, leaving Hein with no chance to save it.
In the 20th minute, Sanchez almost scored again, but this time Hein made an excellent save, blocking his powerful shot from close range.
Sevilla doubled their lead just before halftime. Isaac Romero launched a beautifully curl shot from outside the box that found the top left corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
In the 67th minute, Sevilla scored again against Hein. They found themselves in a 4-on-2 situation and executed it perfectly. Dodi Lukebakio waited for his options and passed to the right, where Juanlu Sanchez was making a run. Sanchez easily beat Hein, scoring his second goal of the match.
Late in the game, Sevilla caught the Valladolid defense off guard during a counter-attack. Chidera Ejuke found Dodi Lukebakio, who finished neatly into the bottom right corner, scoring yet again.
Throughout the match, Hein made two saves out of the six shots he faced, but Valladolid ultimately lost for the fifth straight time in La Liga.
Valladolid is currently at the bottom of the league with 15 points after 24 games. They rank as the worst team in La Liga based on almost every statistical metric, including goals scored and goals allowed.
They are eight points behind 17th place Las Palmas, which is the position that would ensure safety from relegation.
Valladolid’s next match will not be any easier, as they will face Athletic Bilbao away from home next Sunday.
