FA Šiauliai has announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Neves de Jesus Gouveia da Silva, otherwise known as Benny. He previously played for the Portuguese club 1º Dezembro.

The 23-year-old midfielder is a product of the Benfica academy. Early in his career, he was recognized as a promising young talent, earning call-ups to the Portuguese U16, U17, U18, and U19 national teams. He competed in the 2018 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, scoring one goal.

In 2020, Benny moved to Feyenoord but was subsequently loaned to Dordrecht, another Dutch club, where he played in the Eerste Divisie. After a year there, he returned to Portugal to join Famalicão. With Famalicão, he made one appearance in Liga Portugal, spending most of his time with the reserve team.

Most recently, Benny played for 1º Dezembro, a club in the Portuguese third division, which he joined in September 2023. Last season, he made 19 appearances across all competitions for the team, but since July, Benny has been without a club

“Hello everyone! I am very grateful for the opportunity I have been given. I am ready to give my all, and I am happy to do so at this club. I am confident we will have a successful season in Šiauliai,” Benny said to the Šiauliai press office after signing the deal.
