FK Vilnius Žalgiris leader and last season’s A Lyga top goalscorer Liviu Antal, has returned home signing with the Romanian lower league side SCM Zalau.

The 35-year-old Romanian winger rejoined Žalgiris in June 2023. During his two seasons with the club, he won the A Lyga title last season and earned his second Lithuanian Golden Boot by scoring 20 goals in 35 league games, making him the top goalscorer in the A Lyga.

Antal, who has played 162 matches for the Vilnius side, ranks second all-time among foreign players in games played in the club’s modern era and is the all-time leading scorer with 89 goals, leaving the team as a club legend.

His first stint with Žalgiris lasted from 2017 to 2020, during which he became the league’s top goalscorer in 2018, won the Lithuanian A Lyga title in 2020, and claimed the Lithuanian Cup twice in 2017 and 2018.

Throughout his career, Antal has made over 200 appearances in the Romanian top flight and has also played for clubs in Turkey, Israel, and Hungary.
