FK Kauno Žalgiris, which began its training camp in Cyprus this week, has strengthened its roster with another player. From now on, 23-year-old central midfielder Damjan Pavlović will be playing in Kaunas.
Born in Belgium and holding dual Belgian and Serbian citizenship, the player is moving to Kaunas from the Croatian top-tier club Gorica. The season in Croatia is only halfway through, but during the first half, D.Pavlović managed to play only 10 matches and scored one goal. The new Žalgiris Kaunas player also scored another goal in two appearances in the Croatian Cup tournament.
The footballer, who developed in the Standard Liège system in Belgium, represented Belgium’s youth national teams as a teenager. However, he then decided to play for Serbia’s youth national teams. After spending two seasons in Belgium’s top league, D.Pavlović later moved to Croatia and joined the Rijeka team. In the 2023 season, he played on loan for Degerfors, a club in Sweden’s top league.
Having successfully passed his medical examination in Kaunas, Pavlović is set to fly to Cyprus today, where he will join the team’s training sessions in Limassol.
