FA Šiauliai announced that one of their key players, Domantas Šimkus, will remain with the team for the 2025 season.
The 28-year-old midfielder joined Šiauliai in the summer of 2023 after spending 2.5 years playing in Israel, Azerbaijan, and Slovenia. In that season, he helped Šiauliai reach the Lithuanian Cup final and finish 3rd in the A Lyga.
Last season, the former Lithuanian National team midfielder made 32 A Lyga appearances for FA Šiauliai as he also played the most minutes for the team.
“I am happy to stay in my hometown. From the very first day I returned to Šiauliai, I felt at home—surrounded by my people and in my own environment. This connection probably encouraged me to stay with the yellow and black ranks. The past season did not meet our expectations, so we still have unfinished business. The city of Šiauliai has a wonderful football community and passionate fans, and we want to do everything we can to achieve great results together again. Much hard work lies ahead, and I look forward to an interesting and memorable time as we grow together. Go Šiauliai!” said Šimkus after signing the contract and choosing to remain in Šiauliai.
