FA Šiauliai announced today that they have mutually terminated the contract with forward Nauris Petkevičius. At the same time, champions FK Žalgiris have confirmed the return of midfielder Gustas Jarusevičius.
The 24-year-old Petkevičius joined the Šiauliai side before the 2024 season, making 20 A Lyga appearances and scoring three goals. He previously had his best success with FC Hegelmann, where he scored 16 league goals in the 2021 season, finishing second in the top-scorer list just one goal short of the Frenchman Hugo Videmont who then played for FK Žalgiris. The former Lithuanian international, who also played abroad in Lille Academy and Belgium for RSC Charleroi and Beerschot VA, will now look for a new club.
Gustas Jarusevičius, aged 21, returns for his second stint with FK Žalgiris. He initially joined the Vilnius side in 2019 and made his A Lyga debut at the age of 16. In the following seasons, he became a regular player in the Green and Whites. However, last season, to look for a bigger role he moved to the promoted team FK TRANSInvest. He started well there playing every game, but two serious injuries limited his season to just 14 games played. In total, the midfielder has made 69 appearances in A Lyga, scoring five goals and assisting five times.
