Last season’s league runner-up, FC Hegelmann, announced that they signed a contract extension with the defender Vilius Armalas.
The 24-year-old Lithuanian player, who joined the club for the first time in 2021, is set to return for his fifth season with the team. Vilius is one of the few players to have reached the 100 games played for the club. Last season, the center-back made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists. FC Hegelmann had the best season in its history, finishing second in the A Lyga and reaching the final of the Lithuanian Cup.
Armalis, who has two caps for the Lithuanian National Team, began his professional football career with FK Stumbras, where he debuted in the A Lyga. In 2019, the talented defender joined the Portuguese powerhouse Benfica, with whom he played mainly for the youth and reserve teams. After his contract expired with Benfica, he played for Greek club AO Kavala for half a season before returning to Hegelmann permanently in the summer of 2022.
Previously, the Kaunas district club announced that they had re-signed the captain Klaudijus Upstas, Domantas Antanavičius, and Artem Schedryi and have signed a newcomer, Harouna Samad.
