Ovidijus Verbickas, who captained the A Lyga champions, Vilnius Žalgiris, has extended his contract with the country’s strongest club.

The 31-year-old midfielder will be entering his fifth consecutive season with Žalgiris. He joined the capital city club in 2021 after spending a year in the Kazakhstan Premier League.

The past year was special for me personally because I served as the team captain for the first time. There were many new challenges and responsibilities,” said Verbickas. “It wasn’t difficult to decide on a new contract. The club’s ambitions and goals align with my own. I believe that next year, together with the club and the team, we can achieve many significant victories and return to the main stage of UEFA tournaments.” the Žalgiris captain said to the club statement.

Verbickas has 36 caps for the Lithuanian National Team. This season, he made 33 appearances in the A Lyga, scoring two goals and providing four assists. Overall, he has played 158 matches and scored 11 goals for Žalgiris in all official tournaments.
