Estonians abroad: Kait comes on as a substitute in Romania

Today, league games were played by Estonian players abroad: Mattias Käit in Romania, Aleksandr Sapovalov in Greece, and Georgi Tunjov in Italy.

Superliga (Romania)

Estonian National Team player Mattias Käit played his second match back in the Romanian Superliga after missing nearly two months due to an injury. Three days ago, he started and played the entire game for FC Rapid București against CFR Cluj. Today, he came onto the field in the 70th minute as his team played a goalless draw against Dinamo București.

The 26-year-old midfielder is now in his fourth season with the Romanian club and has made 12 league appearances this season. FC Rapid București currently sits in 8th place in the league table. The Romanian Superliga is approaching its winter break, with Käit’s team set to return to action on January 18th.

Super League 2 (Greece)

In another match, Niki Volos, which features Estonian forward Aleksandr Sapovalov, suffered a heavy defeat against Super League 2 leaders AEL Larissa, losing 0-3. Sapovalov, who has scored three goals in nine league games this season, started the match and played for 71 minutes before being substituted. Volos currently holds 6th place in the league standings with 19 points.

Serie C (Italy)

Former Estonian international Georgi Tunjov was an unused substitute in the Italian Serie C match, where Pescara played to a 0-0 draw against Ternana. The 23-year-old midfielder has seen limited playing time this season, making 13 league appearances and scoring one goal. Pescara is at the top of the league table with 41 points after 20 league games.
