Qizilqum FC announced on social media that the Latvian National team goalkeeper Roberts Ozols will leave Uzbekistan’s highest league side after just one season.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper joined Qizilqum in January 2024, marking his first experience playing for a club abroad. Previously, he played for Jūrmalas Spartaks, Daugava Rīga, and FK Auda. His most memorable time was at Riga FC, where he won three consecutive Virslīga titles and a Latvian Cup.

While at Riga FC, Roberts debuted for the Latvian National Team in 2020 during a friendly against Montenegro. He has earned a total of 19 caps for the national team. His last game was over a year ago, on November 18, when Latvia lost to Croatia.

This season, Roberts made 24 appearances across all competitions for Qizilqum, conceding 31 goals and keeping eight clean sheets. Qizilqum finished 11th in the Uzbekistan Super League, just two points ahead of FC Olympic, enabling them to avoid the relegation play-off match.
