FK Vilnius Žalgiris, the champions of A Lyga, have announced the departure of Dušan Markovic, Myroslav Mazur, and Leandro Fernandes, who have all left the team following the expiration of their contracts.

The 26-year-old Serbian goalkeeper Dušan Markovic, who joined the Vilnius side before the start of the season from the Cypriot side Ethnikos, had to settle for the role of backup goalkeeper for the entire season as the Žalgiris number one goalkeeper spot was taken, and not given up by the Romanian goalkeeper Arpad Tordai.

In total, Dušan made two appearances in goal – both games at the end of the season in the league in a win vs. Šiauliai – 3:1 and a loss against Džiugas 0:1 in the last game of the season.

Myroslav Mazur, who was also a pre-season signing from Swedish side Ostersund, made 21 appearances in the 2024 A Lyga season for the Vilnius side. The 26-year-old Ukrainian also made two appearances in the UEFA Conference League qualifying.

Lastly, the Dutch midfielder Leandro Fernandes. The 24-year-old PSV academy product, who once was bought for 500 thousand Euros by Juventus, joined FK Žalgiris in February. Unfortunately, due to a season plagued by injuries, he made only ten appearances in the league, scoring once against Džiugas.
