Estonia goalkeeper Karl Jakob Hein has returned to Germany for further medical examinations and will miss Tuesday’s final match of the international window against Iceland because of an adductor injury. The tests will determine the severity of the problem.
Hein started Estonia’s first two matches of the window but was among the substitutes for Saturday’s game against Luxembourg. Matvei Igonen took his place and kept a clean sheet.
Head coach Jürgen Henn said after the Luxembourg game: “He is having an additional examination now, which will show how much risk there is of the injury getting worse.”
Evert Grünvald (25) has been called up as a replacement. He has made 14 appearances in the Premium liiga this season and 102 in the competition during his career, all for Flora. He has yet to play for the senior national team but has one appearance for Estonia’s Under-21s.
Karol Mets will also miss the Iceland match through suspension. Martin Miller was absent against Luxembourg because of illness.
