FCI Levadia announced that captain Rasmus Peetson will stay with the team for the upcoming season, clarifying uncertainties about his future with the Estonian champions.
The 29-year-old Rasmus Peetson’s journey with FCI Levadia began in the summer of 2014 when he joined from Pärnu Linnameeskond. Since then, he has made 249 appearances for the club, including 230 in the Premium League. Initially a midfielder, Peetson transitioned to a central defender after Serbian head coach Aleksandar Rogic joined the club.
His background as a midfielder has proven beneficial, as he has scored 34 goals for Levadia to date. This achievement helped him break into the Estonian National Team, where he has played 19 matches and scored one goal. Peetson took on the captaincy for the first time in the 2023 season, following the departure of the previous captain, Brent Lepistu, who moved abroad. In his inaugural season as captain, the team achieved a second-place finish in the Premium Liiga.
In his second season as captain in 2024, the team excelled, winning the championship title. Peetson has won three Premium Liiga titles with the club (2014, 2021, 2024), three Estonian Cups (2018, 2021, 2024), and two-time winners of the Estonian Super Cup (2018 and 2022).
Rasmus Peetson stated, “I am very pleased to sign a new contract with my club. Our goals for the new season will be even higher than last year, and I believe in our team’s ability to achieve them through hard work and smart strategies!”
Club president Viktor Levada added, “The club is excited to continue working with the captain! Let’s move forward together toward our common goals!”
