FC Hegelmann have announced the departure of head coach Mikel Aramburu Erneta, with the Spanish specialist leaving the Lithuanian club by mutual agreement. Assistant coach Tadas Vilkevičius will take charge of the team on an interim basis.
Aramburu Erneta joined Hegelmann in January 2026 and led the club across three competitions this season – the Toplyga, LFF Cup and UEFA Conference League qualifiers. Hegelmann thanked the Spaniard for his work, professionalism and contribution to the club and wished him well in the next stage of his career.
Vilkevičius has already been in charge for Hegelmann’s last two Toplyga matches, against Panevėžys in Raudondvaris and away to FA Šiauliai. The latter ended in a goalless draw, with Hegelmann taking a point on the road.
The Lithuanian coach has a long history with the club, having initially joined Hegelmann’s coaching staff in 2020. During his first season, he worked as an assistant to Artūras Ramoška as the club earned promotion to Lithuania’s top flight. Vilkevičius subsequently spent five seasons as part of Andrius Skerla’s coaching staff before continuing under Aramburu Erneta in 2026.
Vilkevičius has been involved in more than 250 official matches as a member of Hegelmann’s first-team coaching staff while also gaining head-coaching experience with Hegelmann B. He had already taken charge of the senior side on three occasions in the Toplyga before his current interim appointment – once during the 2024 season and for the two most recent matches in 2026.
Hegelmann’s next Toplyga fixture will take place on September 20, when they host Marijampolė-based Sūduva at Raudondvaris Stadium.
