Harju JK Laagri claimed one of the biggest results of their season on Saturday evening, defeating Nõmme Kalju 1-0 in difficult weather conditions. Reinhard Reimaa’s second-half goal proved enough to separate the sides in Laagri.

Heavy rain and strong winds made conditions extremely challenging from the opening whistle, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances during an even first half.

Harju enjoyed the brighter opening stages before Kalju gradually took control of possession, although neither side managed to seriously trouble the goalkeepers. Rommi Siht twice tried his luck from distance, while Harju came closest when Karel Eerme’s deflected effort almost caught Henri Perk off guard before an ensuing corner nearly resulted in an own goal from Enrique Esono.

Kalju’s best opportunity before the break arrived in the 39th minute when Oleksandr Musolitin curled a dangerous free-kick towards the bottom corner, but Harju goalkeeper Jan Vainula produced an excellent save to keep the score level.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Kalju enjoying more possession but Harju looking dangerous whenever they broke forward. The hosts squandered a golden opportunity on the hour mark when Eerme found himself completely unmarked just a couple of metres from goal but failed to direct his effort on target.

That miss did not prove costly as just six minutes later substitute Sigvard Suppi made an immediate impact after winning possession in midfield before combining with Binate to release Reinhard Reimaa. The midfielder’s low effort looked comfortable for Perk, but the Kalju goalkeeper slipped at the crucial moment and allowed the ball to squeeze through his hands and into the net, handing Harju a 1-0 lead.

Kalju pushed forward in search of an equaliser but struggled to create meaningful opportunities against a disciplined Harju defence. Their best chance arrived deep into stoppage time from a free-kick, with a goal-bound header dramatically cleared off the line to preserve the hosts’ advantage.

Despite five minutes of added time and late pressure, Harju held firm to secure all three points and complete a memorable victory over one of the league’s title contenders. Their first win over Kalju in almost three years.

Harju thanks to this win move up to the 6th place in the league table with 28 points after 24 games, while Kalju still remain in second, 12 points behind leaders Levadia.
