Estonia midfielder Rocco Robert Shein was substituted three minutes after being shown a yellow card as Portsmouth opened their Championship account with a 3-1 win away to Lincoln City.

Having started in the 1-3 defeat by Queens Park Rangers in the opening round, Shein again lined up from the outset at Sincil Bank. He was cautioned in the 55th minute and withdrawn on 58 minutes as Portsmouth protected a two-goal lead.

Portsmouth struck first with their opening opportunity in the seventh minute, when Ryan Kavuma McQueen found space inside the area and finished into the far corner.

The visitors doubled their advantage on 16 minutes as Adrian Segečic curled a free-kick from 18 metres into the top corner. Lincoln pulled one back on 32 minutes when Reeco Hackett-Fairchild converted a penalty awarded for Zak Swanson’s handball.

Portsmouth added the third goal in the 69th minute when substitute Ebou Adams scored the goal to make it 3-1.

Next match for the Rocco Robert Shein’s Portsmouth side is next Saturday when they will play an away game against Bristol City.
