Narva Trans have confirmed the signing of Argentina left-back Tomás Berardozzi as the Premium liiga side continue to reshape their squad amidst difficult season.

The 23-year-old came through the youth ranks at Newell’s Old Boys and reached the reserve side, where he served as captain. Berardozzi said he was named on the substitutes’ bench for the first team under head coach Gabriel Heinze but did not make a senior appearance.

I went through every youth team and got to the reserves, where I was captain and played an important role,” Berardozzi told the club’s website. “I was on the bench several times under Gabriel Heinze, but I couldn’t make my debut. I was very close, but there were a lot of players in the squad and several circumstances meant I didn’t get on.”

Berardozzi moved to Spain in 2023, joining Arenteiro and making 18 appearances in the country’s third tier. He later featured in the fourth tier for Salamanca and Sarriana, playing 41 league matches across those spells.

Reflecting on his first season abroad, Berardozzi added: “I was very young and alone, far from my family, and football was very different to what I was used to. I had good periods and not so good ones, but I had to be patient and adapt.”

He said last season at Sarriana was his most settled, producing 33 league matches with three goals and three assists. “At Sarriana I felt very comfortable,” Berardozzi said. “The club trusted me completely. By then I had already experienced life in Spain and played in the local leagues. I had a great season.”
