Kauno Žalgiris have completed the signing of Lithuania international midfielder Vykintas Slivka ahead of their UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign.
The 31-year-old has agreed a contract running until the end of 2028, returning to Lithuanian club football after a spell abroad lasting close to 15 years.
Sporting director Darius Šinkūnas said the club had been monitoring leading Lithuanian players and welcomed Slivka’s decision to join. “He is a player with a lot of international experience and we expect quality from him in midfield,” he told the club’s website.
Slivka left Lithuania in 2012 when he joined the Juventus set-up and later played for Modena and Ascoli in Italy. He has also had spells with Gorica, Den Bosch, Hibernian, Lamia and Apollon Smyrnis, and most recently featured for Japan’s Sagan Tosu.
A long-serving member of the national team, Slivka has won 74 caps and scored three goals. He will wear the number 14 shirt for Kauno Žalgiris.
