Estonia midfielder Kevor Palumets has completed a move within Slovakia’s top flight, joining FC Košice on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old arrives from Železiarne Podbrezová, where he featured 53 times in all competitions after joining in January 2025, scoring five goals and providing 11 assists. He played 31 league matches last season, starting the majority as Podbrezova finished fifth in the regular season and sixth after the split.

Košice, who finished seventh in Slovakia’s top division last year, said Palumets’ registration will belong to the club for the next two seasons, with the agreement including an option to extend by a further year.

The transfer is linked to movement in the opposite direction, with 24-year-old Croatian forward Karlo Miljanić leaving Košice to join Podbrezova.

Košice sporting director Terry Westley said the deal reflected two clubs’ needs. “Sometimes you get a situation where two players move in opposite directions,” Westley said. “One club was looking for a creative midfielder, the other wanted to strengthen its forward line.”

Westley added that Košice had tracked Palumets for some time, praising his athleticism, technical quality and delivery from set-pieces, and said the club pushed to complete the signing once the opportunity arose.

Palumets said Košice was “a big club” in Slovakia and backed the side to compete towards the top end of the table, citing the stadium and support as key factors in his decision.

Košice were founded eight years ago and have spent the last three seasons in the Slovak top flight, with fifth place their best finish to date.
