FK Kauno Žalgiris forward Haris Kadrić says his focus in Lithuania is “only victories” after completing a summer move from Slovenian top-flight club Primorje.
The 26-year-old, who joined his new club last week, made his first appearance in the Lithuanian Cup quarter-final against BFA and set up Motiejus Burba with an assist.
“First of all I’m very happy to join a champions’ team that sets high targets and fights for trophies,” Kadrić told the club’s website. “In Kaunas you have to win everything. We will try to win the cup, the league and reach the main stage of a UEFA competition.”
FK Kauno Žalgiris begin their UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign in early July at Darius and Girėnas Stadium, with Kosovo champions Drita the visitors.
“The Champions League is a competition you dream about when you’re a small child,” Kadrić said. “It won’t be easy, but I think the team has a lot of quality. European matches give you experience and visibility – everyone is waiting for that.”
Kadrić added that the club’s attacking style was a key factor in his decision to move, and believes it suits his strengths as a 1.88m centre-forward.
“If a team’s ideas are attacking, with the aim of scoring more goals, that’s good for a striker,” he said. “I like to finish moves, be dangerous in the box and create threats. My main goal is to score and help the team.”
Kauno Žalgiris return to TOPLYGA action on 3 July away to Džiugas, before switching focus to their Champions League tie days later.
