Nõmme Kalju have extended the contract of Senegal centre-back Modou Tambedou until the end of 2028.

Tambedou, 23, joined the two-time Estonian champions at the start of 2025 and has made 46 appearances in the Premium liiga across a season and a half. Although primarily a central defender, he has also been used in midfield as a holding player.

“I’m very happy to extend my contract with Nõmme Kalju,” Tambedou said on the club’s social media channels. “From the first day, the club, my team-mates, the coaches and the supporters have made me feel at home here. I’m sincerely grateful for the trust they’ve shown in me over these years.

“Kalju have a clear vision and strong ambitions. I feel I’ve developed here as a player and I believe the team still have a lot to achieve. My aim is to keep working every day, help the club win trophies and be an important part of that journey.”

Kalju president and sporting director Kuno Tehva said keeping Tambedou was a key step in the club’s long-term sporting strategy. “We are very pleased that Modou has committed his future to Kalju,” Tehva said, describing him as a model professional and one of the Premium Liiga’s best centre-backs.

Tehva added that the defender’s “biggest potential” was still to come and believes he has the qualities to earn a move to a stronger league. “His character, work ethic, winner’s mentality and desire to keep improving are valued everywhere,” he said. “We believe that, by continuing to develop at Kalju, his next step could take him to the top level in Europe.”
