FK Panevėžys have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of forward Nauris Petkevičius, who has agreed a contract running until the end of the 2027 season.
The 26-year-old returns to Lithuania after a short spell in India with Inter Kashi, where he played 11 league matches. Petkevičius has four senior caps for Lithuania.
Petkevičius began his professional career with Stumbras and made his Toplyga debut at 16. He later spent time in Lille’s system before returning to Lithuania with Hegelmann.
After a strong 2021 campaign, his contract was bought out by Charleroi, who loaned him to Beerschot and later to Žalgiris. He then moved back to Hegelmann and went on to represent FA Šiauliai and Sūduva.
Speaking after joining training with Panevėžys, Petkevičius said his Indian experience was “mixed”. He added: “There were good and bad moments, but I gained more life experience than I expected. In football terms everything was fine, but I wanted to be productive, not just play well.
“I’m arriving in Panevėžys in good shape. Before coming here, the main thing was a positive conversation with the coach, which influenced my decision. The club is professional, gives players everything they need and helps you grow in every sense.”
Panevėžys are next in action on Tuesday, 16 June, away to FK Žalgiris in a rescheduled Toplyga round-20 fixture, with kick-off at 19:30.
