A new international youth football tournament, the Nordic Cup, will be launched in Riga at the end of October, bringing together young teams from the Baltic States, Poland, the Nordic countries and other parts of Europe.
The tournament is being organised by Sporto Latvija and will feature teams in the U7, U8, U9, U10 and U11 age groups. Organisers aim to establish the competition as a leading international youth football event in Northern Europe, offering players the chance to gain international experience and face opponents from different football cultures.
Matches will take place over three days, from 30th October until 1st on November 2026, and will be played across several indoor football venues in Riga, including the Rimi Olympic Centre, Skonto Football Hall, FK Metta’s newly opened Rūpnīca Indoor Hall and the Daugava Stadium Indoor Football Hall, with clubs from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and other European countries expected to take part. The tournament will seek to combine competitive football with education, cultural exchange and grassroots development; there will be activities designed to promote fair play, teamwork and youth development.
The first edition of the Nordic Cup is intended to become the start of a new international football tradition in the region. Further details on tournament dates, format, registration and participation procedures will be announced later and will be available via the “turniir” platform.
