Latvia’s preparations for their Baltic Cup bronze-medal play-off against the Faroe Islands have been disrupted by three departures from the squad because of injury and a scheduled operation.
The Latvian Football Federation said Eduards Dašķevičs and Dmitrijs Zelenkovs have been released from the national team training camp after medical checks ruled them out of the upcoming match.
Deniss Meļņiks has also left the camp, with the federation confirming he will undergo a previously planned operation described as urgent.
Head coach Paolo Nicolato was already without several senior players on health grounds, including Jānis Ikaunieks, Roberts Uldriķis, Renārs Varslavāns, Vladislavs Gutkovskis, Alvis Jaunzems and captain Kristers Tobers.
Latvia went down to Lithuania on penalties in their opening Baltic Cup match, and will now face the Faroe Islands on Tuesday evening at 18:00 at the LNK Sporta Parks.
