Estonia’s men’s national team will begin preparations for the Baltic Cup on Monday with two late changes to the squad, as captain Karol Mets and young midfielder Soufian Gouram have both been ruled out.
According to the Estonian Football Association, Mets will miss the camp for personal reasons. The experienced centre-back recently left St. Pauli and is currently a free agent while searching for a new club. To replace Mets, Henn has called up FCI Levadia defender Tanel Tammik.
Gouram, who had been in contention for his senior national team debut, is unavailable due to injury. The 20-year-old Hertha Berlin midfielder has been one of the standout players for Estonia’s U21 national team and was among the more interesting names in Jürgen Henn’s original squad.
Estonia will open their Baltic Cup campaign on June 6 at Pärnu Rannastaadion against the Faroe Islands. Latvia and Lithuania meet in the other semifinal, with the final and third-place match scheduled for June 9.
Estonia enter the tournament as defending Baltic Cup champions after beating the Faroe Islands and Lithuania in 2024.
