Rising through the ranks: Rommi Siht’s breakthrough at Nõmme Kalju.

Rommi Siht has over 100 appearances for his boyhood club at just 19 years old, he has already made his debut for the Estonian national team, and the tireless midfielder is only at the start of what could be an impressive career.

Nõmme Kalju currently sit second in the Premium Liiga, two points behind leaders Levadia, and they are hoping to win their first top division league title since 2018. One of the players driving the club forward is Rommi Siht, still just a teenager at 19 years old he plays in the heart of the Kalju midfield and has played almost every minute so far this season for the Tallinn based side.

Speaking to Baltic Football News, Rommi knows how competitive the Premium Liiga is this season, ‘you have to play every game 100% and if you don’t play your game, it’s easy to lose points.’ He also added, ‘I enjoy playing in Estonia simply because I get to do what I love and be close to my family, in my home country.’

Rommi has been at Nõmme Kalju all his life and it’s his boyhood club; he spoke about the pride he has representing them. ‘It has been my club since the very beginning, and playing here has given me a lot of mental strength, it is a club I have watched since was little and have grown up playing this system, it is definitely an honour to be at this club.’

The young midfielder had praise for two specific coaches, ‘the most important coaches are definitely Indro Olumets, who was my youth coach and of course now Nikita Andrejev, who has trusted me in the first team.’

As Nõmme Kalju hope to win their first title in eight years, Rommi is hoping for calmness in the team’s camp and believes the team are more than capable enough to win the league. ‘If you want to be a footballer, you want something expected of you. If you do your job calmly and play to your best, you have nothing to fear.’

In the international break of March 2026, Rommi was handed his first ever senior international call up for the Estonian national team. He was part of the first Estonian team to play on African soil; he played 84 minutes in the final of the FIFA Series tournament against Rwanda. ‘It has been my dream to represent the Estonian national team, and I couldn’t believe it came true so quickly.’

Finally, he spoke about his future and what he wants to achieve with Kalju. ‘For my part, I want to develop in all aspects, and the goals within the club are clear, we always give our all and that this season brings success both in the league and in Europe.’

As Rommi Siht continues to grow at Nõmme Kalju, his journey reflects both patience and ambition, with each season reflecting how talented he is. If he continues to develop like he has so far, he could soon become a stalwart figure for the club and is already a name to watch in Estonian football.
