After a long-awaited win comes a reality check. In Matchday 10 of the Toplyga, FK TransINVEST delivered a ruthless performance on the road, dismantling FA Šiauliai with a commanding 4-0 victory.

Šiauliai entered the match with renewed confidence after finally securing their first league win of the season against FK Panevėžys. However, they were up against an in-form TransINVEST side that had just handed champions FK Kauno Žalgiris their first defeat of the campaign.

There was also a notable change for the visitors, as Mantas Bertašius – one of last season’s standout goalkeepers – made his first league start of the season after spending the opening nine rounds on the bench.

Šiauliai began the match with ambition, taking the initiative and creating the first real chance in the 16th minute. Ghanaian midfielder Divine Naah tested Bertašius, but the goalkeeper was equal to the effort, marking his return with a solid save.

That early promise quickly faded. TransINVEST took control and struck in the 26th minute through a rapid transition. Yegor Glushach found Stefan Milošević on the left, and the Montenegrin forward made no mistake, scoring his first goal for the club.

Just nine minutes later, the visitors doubled their lead. This time, Milošević turned provider, sending Xabi Auzmendi through one-on-one, and the Spaniard calmly finished to make it 2-0.

Šiauliai had a chance to get back into the game early in the second half when Rui Batalha unleashed a powerful shot, but Bertašius produced another excellent save to deny him.

That moment proved decisive, as TransINVEST put the game beyond doubt in a devastating two-minute spell. In the 66th minute, a well-worked move involving Ukrainian Mykola Musolitin and Stefan Milosevič ended with the latter scoring his second of the game.

A minute later, Glushach turned provider, leading another fast break and finding Auzmendi, who struck from outside the box into the corner to complete his brace and seal a comprehensive 4-0 victory.

TransINVEST comfortably saw out the remainder of the match, securing their fifth win of the season and climbing to second place in the table. They are now level on points with Džiugas Telšiai, though still eight points behind leaders Kauno Žalgiris.

For Šiauliai, it was a harsh return to reality after their previous success. They remain ninth in the standings with eight points from ten matches.

TransINVEST will look to continue their strong run next Saturday away against bottom side FK Riteriai, while Šiauliai face a Lithuanian Cup clash against second-tier Jonava before returning to league action against Sūduva later the same day.
