Erko Jonne Tõugjas has been named man of the match by Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen after Halmstads BK drew 1-1 away to Hammarby in the fourth round of the Allsvenskan.

The 22-year-old defender, who signed his first contract abroad in November, has made an immediate impact in Sweden and has played every minute of Halmstad’s four league matches this season.

Halmstad, who have opened the campaign with two draws and two defeats, sit 13th in the table. Wednesday’s point came at the home of 2001 champions Hammarby, last season’s runners-up.

Tõugjas was booked in the 67th minute but still received top marks in Fotbollskanalen’s player ratings. The report described him as “big, strong and determined”, adding that he won his duels and defended well.
