Andrius Lipskis, the strategist of the Žemaitija capital club, was named the best coach for the months of October and November by TOPsport A Lyga. This recognition was announced after the votes from championship commentators and podcast hosts were tallied. In March, the 36-year-old Lipskis received the same honor.
Since the beginning of October, Džiugas has played six matches, winning three, drawing once, and losing twice. The club from Telšiai lost 0-1 to Kaunas’ “Hegelmann” and “Panevėžys,” but they secured victories against FK Kaunas Žalgiris 1-0 and FA “Šiauliai,” with a score of 3-0, as well as champions Žalgiris Vilnius, whom they defeated 1-0.
In their last four games, Džiugas did not concede a goal and concluded the championship with a streak of three wins. This remarkable performance allowed Džiugas Telšiai to achieve its best result in the Lithuanian championship, finishing 6th place.
“Many factors contributed to our strong start and finish, but the main one is that the players believed in the process even during challenging moments, giving their all in every training session and match. They are the key players in this success and deserve the most outstanding credit!
Our victory means that Džiugas has retained its place in the A Lyga. Achieving 6th place is a historic milestone for our small club, and we can only maintain this level by improving the quality in all aspects. Enhanced financial resources will help us achieve that,” reflected the head of Džiugas after his first season at the team’s helm.
