FK Žalgiris has announced significant changes within its men’s team, as head coach Rolandas Džiaukštas will no longer continue in his role.

The decision was made in light of the team’s recent sporting results. After the first eight rounds of the Lithuanian championship, Žalgiris has secured three victories and collected a total of 11 points.

Džiaukštas had been serving as head coach since September of last year. Despite the current season’s challenges, the team showed remarkable form under his leadership at the end of the previous season. In the final round, Žalgiris won seven out of nine matches, earning qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The club expressed its gratitude to Džiaukštas for his significant contribution to last year’s achievements, as well as for his dedication and work during this season and earlier periods.

In the meantime, assistant coach Nerijus Mačiulis will take over head coaching duties on an interim basis.

FK Žalgiris Vilnius will play their next match on April 17 at home against Banga from Gargždai.
