For the second time in a row, Vilnius “Žalgiris” and Lithuanian national team player Paulius Golubickas have been named the best player of the “TOPsport A Lyga.” This time for the months of October and November.
This recognition came after votes from championship commentators and presenters and ratings submitted by team captains were counted in collaboration with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) and TOPsport A Lyga.
“Pragmatic Play,” the main sponsor of the championships, presents the Best Awards. Notably, Golubickas was also recognized as the best player of the month in September. During the months of October and November, Golubickas played six matches in the Lithuanian top flight, where he scored three goals and provided four assists. He also earned a couple of penalties for his team.
This year, the Žalgiris player has scored eight goals and made eleven assists in 33 matches in the TOPsport A Lyga. “I focused on winning the championship and securing the title as soon as possible. As always, I aim to contribute to the team’s victories through goals, assists, and active play in the attack. Although I couldn’t improve my goal count this year, I am satisfied with my personal best.
Last year, I didn’t achieve this, so I made changes to my individual training with Edgars Lukoševičis, who helped me address several issues and strengthen my body. It’s also important to highlight the team and coaching staff; we really functioned as a cohesive unit this year. While individual players can influence the outcome of a match, the team’s overall achievements depend on everyone working together throughout the season,” said P. Golubickas.
