FC Džiugas Telšiai, led by Andrius Lipskis, continued their impressive start to the Toplyga season, securing their fourth win in seven matches with a 1-0 away victory over FK Panevėžys. The decisive moment came in the second half, when Ibrahima Cisse converted from the penalty spot to seal all three points and strengthen Džiugas’ hold on second place in the standings.
Panevėžys entered the match following changes on the bench during the international break. German coach Roland Vrabec, who guided the club to domestic cup success last season, stepped down, with Finnish specialist Toni Korkeakunnas taking over. The new coach handed a first start of the season to Kwadwo Asamoah, who had scored his first goal for the club just before the break.
The match itself started cautiously, with both sides struggling to find rhythm and committing several errors in midfield. The first notable chance came midway through the first half, when Vilius Piliukaitis saw his effort deflected narrowly wide of the post.
Just before halftime, Piliukaitis had another excellent opportunity, finding space in a central attacking position, but failed to hit the target from a promising situation.

Džiugas held firm in the closing stages to secure another important victory. With 14 points, Lipskis’ side remain second in the table, while a struggling Panevėžys side sit seventh with eight points after seven rounds.
