Pūcītis: ”Club management demonstrated low level”

Valmiera FC faced a challenging 2024 Virslīga season. The club was penalized 9 points due to unpaid player salaries and tax debts to VID. Despite these setbacks, the team showed exceptional performance on the pitch. By season’s end, the club managed to pay all outstanding salaries and addressed most of its tax debts. However, concerns lingered regarding the management’s role during this period.

A notable absence throughout the season was the club’s president, Uldis Pūcītis, who was largely unreachable, raising questions about the management’s commitment and organization. The situation reached a head during a friendly match between Valmiera FC and its fans after the season, where Pūcītis address the season’s events.

Reflecting on the situation, Pūcītis commented:
“There are seasons when the club management does everything to organize matters down to the smallest detail, but results don’t come on the field, and management asks: where are the medals? This year, it’s been somewhat the opposite – the players did an excellent job on the field, but the club management demonstrated a low level, and now the players are asking: where are our medals? As for you – the fans – when we win, we always celebrate together. When we lose, we share the sadness and always support one another. In gratitude, we have all decided together that you deserve these medals and the trophy given to us.”
