Vjačeslavs Isajevs joins FK Liepāja from FK Auda this winter on a free transfer. The 31-year-old centre-back has joined FK Liepāja in an endeavour to help the team bounce back from a torrid season that saw them finish sixth place at the just-ended Virslīga. Vjačeslavs had a rather decent campaign in Auda in 2024, having played in 24 league games and scoring once, unfortunately at the end of the season he had some injury problems. He has also represented Latvia seven times, netting one international goal.

This transfer reunites him with the head coach Tamaz Pertia, with whom he had a pretty complicated relationship in the past. Ultimately, Tamaz Pertia’s arrival at FK Liepāja in the summer of 2022 prompted Vjačeslavs Isajevs to move to FK Auda. However, both of them are professionals with a single goal in mind: to strengthen Liepāja’s defense, which was pretty weak last season and conceded as many as 56 goals. How well Isajevs can organize the backline and perform in high-pressure matches will be important as Liepāja seeks to climb the league table and push for a European competition spot in the 2025 season.

At 31, the defender has played for multiple Latvian clubs like Olimps Riga, Skonto, RFS, Liepāja, Auda and now FK Liepāja again. In the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Isajevs played 41 games for FK Liepāja.
