Toplyga Matchday 5 opens with Sūduva hosting Hegelmann

The fifth round of the Toplyga begins today in Marijampolė, where Sūduva will host FC Hegelmann. Kick-off is scheduled for 14:15.

Both teams finished inside the top four last season – Hegelmann as runners-up and Sūduva in fourth place. However, after four rounds of the new campaign, both sides currently sit in the middle of the table.

Sūduva can boast the best defensive record in the league, having conceded just one goal in four matches. At the same time, their attacking numbers remain modest. The Marijampolė side have scored only two goals so far this season, with only Riteriai having a weaker record after finding the net just once.

Sūduva’s strong defensive run ended in their previous match, when they conceded their first goal of the season in a narrow defeat against Žalgiris Vilnius.

Hegelmann, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win of the season and have conceded in every match so far. After losing their opening game against Banga Gargždai, the Kaunas district club has drawn three consecutive matches 1-1.

Last season the two teams met four times in the league, with Sūduva winning three of those encounters. Hegelmann’s only victory came in the final round of the 2025 season, when Abdel Njoya scored twice in the second half to secure the win.

Today’s match is the only fixture of the fifth round, with the remaining games scheduled for Sunday, while the round will conclude Monday evening with the clash between Žalgiris Vilnius and FK TransInvest.
