Paide have secured almost €2.5m of European Union funding for a major infrastructure project that will form the first phase of the club’s planned new home stadium.
The Premium Liiga side said the overall budget for the Paide Linnameeskond Sports Competence Centre project is €3.39m. Of that, €2.48m has been awarded from the EU measure “Regionally attractive living and business environment”, with partners contributing a combined €910,000.
Paide said the aim is to develop a regional hub in Järvamaa bringing together sports and training expertise, health monitoring and knowledge transfer in related fields.
The club confirmed planning is under way and that the first facility to be built will become the initial grandstand building of the future stadium. It is set to include accommodation, rooms for education and training programmes, and areas designed for medical checks.
Club president Veiko Veskimäe said the county’s sports and physical activity infrastructure had made “a major leap” in recent years but lacked support services to back athletes through health programmes and enable multi-day camps and international events.
Veskimäe added that the centre is both the first and “another important step” towards the club’s “big dream” of building a new first-team stadium, following the opening of a football hall in Paide in 2025 and the club’s new clubhouse.
Paide said the main building of the planned 4,500-capacity stadium is due to be completed in October 2028, with construction scheduled to start this autumn.
