Former Estonia midfielder Joel Lindpere has taken up a new role at FC Elva, with the Esiliiga and women’s Meistriliiga club appointing him as its development director.

Lindpere spent almost a decade at Kalev after joining the club in 2016, operating mainly as sporting director while also covering a wide range of responsibilities. During that period Kalev, led by Ragnar Klavan, finished third in the Premium liiga in 2023.

He left Kalev in the summer of 2025 and has now linked up with Elva, where he said he wants to help drive quality and ambition through youth development. “I’m very happy that football in South Estonia – and sport more broadly – can gain momentum through me, largely via FC Elva,” Lindpere said in a club statement. “I want to contribute to raising quality, thinking big, and moving from youth football towards elite football. Implementing concrete steps and visions is one of my strengths.”

Lindpere also pointed to the importance of clear structures and staff roles, adding that the club’s next phase of growth can support wider community links and cooperation among regional clubs.

As a player, Lindpere won 107 caps for Estonia and scored seven goals. He ended his playing career at Nõmme Kalju, having also featured for Flora, Tromsø, New York Red Bulls and Chicago Fire.
