FC Džiugas Telšiai did not receive a licence for the 2026 Lithuanian top division – now called Top Lyga – following a meeting of the LFF Licensing Committee on February 5th. The club has the right to appeal the decision, with an Appeals Committee hearing scheduled for February 12th, if required.

Licences were granted to Kauno Žalgiris, Hegelmann, Žalgiris Vilnius, Sūduva, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Banga, Riteriai, TransINVEST, as well as second tier Tauras and Neptūnas Klaipėda. The final list of 2026 participants will be confirmed by the LFF Executive Committee, and licensing does not automatically guarantee participation.

Džiugas, who finished 7th last season, were also initially denied a licence in 2021 due to failure to meet financial requirements, but were later granted approval after a successful appeal.
