Stade Lausanne-Ouchy reached the Swiss Cup semi-finals for the first time after a 2–1 home win over FC Luzern at the Pontaise. The Challenge League side scored twice in the opening 17 minutes and held on despite late pressure from the Super League visitors.
Latvian international Andrejs Cigaņiks started at left-back for Luzern and played the full match. It was his second complete appearance in four days. He received a yellow card shortly before half-time.
Lausanne-Ouchy took the lead in the 4th minute when Théo Barbet headed in a corner delivered by Vasco Tritten. Luzern defender Bung Meng Freimann was positioned too far from the scorer. In the 17th minute, Keasse Bah doubled the advantage with a long-range effort. Goalkeeper Pascal Loretz was unable to prevent the shot from going in.
Luzern had more possession but created few clear chances before the break. In the second half, the visitors increased their attacking presence but remained largely ineffective. Di Giusto missed a good opportunity in the 60th minute.
Substitute Lucas Ferreira scored for Luzern in the 87th minute to reduce the deficit to 2–1. During stoppage time, Lausanne goalkeeper Dany Da Silva saved Lars Villiger’s attempt to preserve the result.
The match was played in front of 1,376 spectators. Around 500 Luzern supporters were present in the away section. Lausanne-Ouchy supporters celebrated the club’s first-ever appearance in the Swiss Cup semi-finals.
Luzern, who have collected 23 points in 22 Super League rounds, exit the competition at the quarter-final stage. The result removes their remaining opportunity to qualify for European competition through the cup this season.
