Latvian goalkeeper Roberts Ozols is set for his second spell abroad after signing a contract with Albanian top-flight side KF Bylis.

The 30-year-old spent last season with FK Auda following his return from a one-year stint in Uzbekistan. Across all competitions, Ozols made 21 appearances for Auda, recording six clean sheets. He also featured in all four of the club’s matches in the Latvian Cup, where Auda went on to lift the trophy after defeating Ozols’ former club Riga FC in the final.

An experienced international, Ozols has earned 19 caps for the Latvia national football team. He now joins a Bylis side that sits eighth in the Albanian league table at the midway point of the season, with 20 points in a 10-team competition.

FK Bylis have become known in recent years for moving between Albania’s top two divisions. Over the past decade, the club has split its time evenly, spending five seasons in the top flight and five in the second tier.

Before his move abroad, Ozols built a strong domestic résumé in Latvia, representing Spartaks Jūrmala and Rīgas Daugava, and winning multiple Virslīga titles with Riga FC.

Ozols could make his debut in Albania as early as Friday, when Bylis host Partizani in league action.
