Paide have signed Gambian winger Momodou Jobarteh on a four-year contract as the Premium liiga side continued its strategy of recruiting and developing young overseas talent.
Jobarteh, 19, arrives from Real de Banjul, while compatriot Pa Modou Sohna has also joined. The 25-year-old midfielder comes to Estonia after most recently playing for BST Galaxy FC in the Gambian top flight.
Sporting director Gert Kams said both players matched the club’s profile and should fit the team’s style. “Momodou Jobarteh is a young winger who is quick, sharp and clearly goal-oriented,” Kams said.
On Sohna, he added: “Pa Modou is a midfielder with a very sharp left foot and high football intelligence. He can influence matches with his qualities and will certainly give us an extra gear in the attacking third.”
The two new signings said they were aware of previous success stories involving Gambian players at Paide and viewed the move as a key step in their careers. “Paide is a place where players are given responsibility, trust and the chance to develop,” they said in a joint statement.
They also noted that familiar faces in the squad would help them settle in, highlighting fellow Gambians Jarju and Badamosi.
