Estonian forward Aleksandr Šapovalov will continue his career in Greece’s second division, having signed a contract until the end of the season with Egaleo FC.

The 22-year-old attacker ended his contract by mutual agreement a few days ago with fellow Greek second-tier club Niki Volos, where the Estonian had spent nearly a year and a half. During the current season, Šapovalov made seven appearances for the Volos-based side, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Limited playing time prompted the search for a new club, and Šapovalov has quickly found a new opportunity with Egaleo FC. Founded in 1946, the Athens-based club last competed in the Greek top division in the 2006/07 season. Egaleo enjoyed its most successful period in the early 2000s, notably reaching the group stage of the UEFA Cup in the 2004/05 season.

At present, Egaleo FC sit seventh in their second-division group, having collected 14 points from 16 matches in a ten-team competition.

This move marks Šapovalov’s third club in Greece over the past two years. He previously spent six months within the PAOK system, playing for the club’s reserve side. Before moving abroad, the striker featured in Estonia for TJK Legion, FC Flora, and JK Tallinna Kalev.

Šapovalov could make his debut as early as Sunday, when Egaleo travel away to face Chania FC in a league fixture, with the two sides currently positioned next to each other in the standings.
