FC Hegelmann continue shaping their squad for the upcoming campaign, as the Blue and Whites have extended the contract of experienced Ukrainian midfielder Artem Shchedryi for a third consecutive season. This marks the second time the club and the player have agreed on a new deal.
Shchedryi joined Hegelmann two seasons ago and has since become an integral part of the team. In his debut season with the club, the wide midfielder stood out for his consistency and influence on the pitch. He made 34 appearances in A Lyga and featured in four FPRO LFF Cup matches, scoring five goals and providing five assists. With 2,769 minutes played, he was among the most heavily used players in the squad.
The highlight of that season came in July, when Shchedryi played a decisive role in all of the team’s victories during the month. He scored three goals and was named Lithuanian Championship Player of the Month for July, underlining his impact and form.
Last season, injuries limited the Ukrainian’s availability at times, but he remained an important member of the squad nonetheless. Shchedryi made 23 appearances in the A Lyga, registering two assists, and also featured in three FPRO LFF Cup matches as well as two UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying fixtures. Towards the end of the season, with several defenders sidelined through injury, the versatile player was frequently deployed in defensive roles, further demonstrating his adaptability.
Shchedryi began his professional career in Ukraine, developing at the renowned Dynamo Kyiv academy. He later gained experience in Estonia and the Czech Republic before arriving in Kaunas from FK Panevėžys.
