Pärnu Vaprus have strengthened their first-team squad with the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Sten Jakob Viidas, who joins the club after a full season with Narva Trans in the Estonian Premium liiga.

A product of the JK Tabasalu academy, Viidas was an ever-present figure for Narva Trans last season, featuring in all 36 league matches. He recorded 2,457 minutes of playing time, scoring four goals and providing three assists across the season.

Explaining his decision to move to Pärnu, Viidas said the club’s direction and playing philosophy were key factors. “I decided to join Pärnu Vaprus because I felt it was the right step forward for me,” he said. “The club’s vision, clear playing identity and focus on developing young players align well with my ambitions. Vaprus also has a strong community base and a very good working environment.

He added that his impressions were formed even before the transfer. “Already last season, when playing against Vaprus, it stood out how boldly and organised they played with the ball, with a clear idea both in attack and defence. My goal is to be as useful to the team as possible, give my maximum in every match, continue developing as a player and help the team collect as many points as we can.”

Vaprus sporting director Karl Palatu welcomed the arrival of the versatile midfielder and expressed confidence in his future development. “I’m pleased that Sten Jakob Viidas has joined our club,” Palatu said. “I believe he has excellent opportunities here to fully realise his potential and develop into one of the strongest wide players in the Premium liiga. In the coming season, we expect an important contribution from him as we aim to set our sights higher and move up the league table.

In addition to his club experience, Viidas has represented Estonia at youth international level on 24 occasions, scoring twice for the U17 and U21 national teams.
