Latvian national-team players Daniels Balodis and Dario Šits were in action – or close to it – on Saturday as their clubs competed in Slovakia and Spain’s third tier.

In Slovakia, defender Daniels Balodis remained on the bench for Prešov, while U21 striker Gļebs Patika was not included in the matchday squad. Prešov earned a 0–0 draw away to Trenčín, keeping themselves in the race for a top-six finish ahead of the league split.

Balodis has played just 21 minutes across Prešov’s last four matches, coming on once at the end of November against Skalica. Prešov sit seventh in the Niké Liga with 20 points from 17 games — level with Michalovce, their closest rival for the final top-six spot. One match remains this year before the winter break, with the final four rounds to be played in 2026.

In Spain’s Primera Federación Group 2, forward Dario Šits came off the bench in the 71st minute for Atlético Madrid B, replacing 17-year-old Miguel Llorente. Atlético’s reserves fell 0–1 away to Algeciras but remain group leaders with 27 points from 14 matches. The group winner at season’s end earns direct promotion to LaLiga2.
