Another change has taken place in the ranks of FA Šiauliai. Ukrainian defender Yevgen Yefremov, who has worn the yellow-and-black jersey for the past three years, will not continue with the club next season.
Yefremov arrived in Šiauliai at the beginning of 2023, joining the team after a spell with FK Sūduva Marijampolė. During his time in Lithuania, the defender became known for his fighting spirit on the pitch. He made 59 appearances, scored two goals, and provided six assists.
The Ukrainian played an important role in Šiauliai’s highly successful 2023 campaign, helping the team secure bronze medals in the top-flight A Lyga and earn a spot in the LFF Cup final.
However, his progress was halted in the summer of 2024 when he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury. Yefremov returned to action in October of this year, featuring for the club’s B team, but he did not make another appearance for the senior side.
“Today is the day I have to say goodbye to this club,” Yefremov said in his farewell message. “I want to thank the entire management, the team and staff, the city, and of course the fans. Together we experienced everything: the joy of victory, the bitterness of defeat, and unforgettable moments in important matches. But today my journey in this city comes to an end. Thank you for believing in me and being by my side. Your voices in the stands, your messages after matches, your songs: all of this will stay in my heart. Thank you for everything we lived through together, and see you again.”
FA Šiauliai thanked the player for his contributions to the club’s results and wished him every success in the next stage of his career.
