Marijampolė’s football club Sūduva has a new president. Mantas Agentas, the CEO of Mantinga Group, has been appointed to lead the organization.
Vidmantas Murauskas, who had headed Sūduva since 2004, officially passed the baton to the new club chief during a press conference held in Marijampolė on Friday. In his farewell remarks, he wished Agentas success in returning the team to European competitions.
“This team is one of the symbols of our city, bringing emotions to the people of Marijampolė for many years. I wish the new president to do everything even better than before and bring Sūduva back to European tournaments,” said Murauskas. Under his leadership, Sūduva won the Lithuanian championship three times (2017, 2018, 2019), claimed silver medals four times (2007, 2010, 2020, 2021), and secured bronze five times (2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016). The club also lifted the LFF Cup in 2006, 2009, and 2019, and won the Supercup in 2009, 2018, 2019, and 2022.
Agentas expressed his readiness to continue the club’s traditions and fulfil the expectations set by his predecessor.
“I thank the former leadership for their tremendous contribution and for laying the strong foundations on which we can continue to build successfully. I am joining the club with a vision for management and the future,” the new president said. “Becoming the head of the club is a responsible and well-considered decision for me. This is one of the most decorated, stable, and enduring clubs in Lithuania, and it is also the team of my hometown. Sport has always played an important role in my life, and a football-loving younger generation is growing in my family, which only strengthens my motivation to contribute to the club’s long-term future. My goal is to keep the club among the strongest in the country, to ensure that the city has a team in the top league, and to give supporters a club they can be proud of.”
Agentas assumes leadership with considerable business management experience. Since 2019, he has served as CEO of Mantinga Group, one of the largest food production companies in the Baltic region. A Marijampolė native, he holds degrees in economics and international business and is currently continuing his education at Harvard Business School. He plans to apply his expertise in leadership and strategic management to guide the football club into its next chapter.
